Getting to Know Me

Although therapy is meant to be about you, it makes sense that you would want to know a little about me before getting started!
I graduated from University of Connecticut in 2007 with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology and a Bachelors of Science in Nutritional Sciences. I then went on to Hofstra University, where I graduated with a Masters of Science In Education Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling in Mental Health in 2009. I worked in an outpatient substance abuse program for 7 years, where I focused on treatment for people with co-occurring substance abuse and mental health concerns. In this position I also gained a wealth of experience in supervising counseling students and counselors working towards their licensure.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), and Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS). These credentials qualify me to work with people who have mental health concerns, disabilities, and students/clinicians who require clinical supervision. If you have any questions about my credentials, please ask!
In 2014, I began my private practice. Over time, I have developed my specialty areas, including eating disorders, addictions, trauma, anxiety, and women's issues. In 2016, I became trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, and find it to be an integral part of my work with clients. EMDR is not for everyone, so you and I will work together to determine if it is an appropriate fit, and if not, we are still able to utilize talk therapy to assist you in reaching your goals.
I have continued education in the following areas: perinatal mood disorders, eating disorders, substance abuse/chemical dependency/addiction, and healing from recent traumatic episodes. I am also an active member of the New York Mental Health Counselors Association, EMDR International Association, and American Counseling Association.
